We Don't Use Lapis from Afghanistan

If you've seen brilliant, impossibly blue, gem-grade Lapis, then you've seen Afghan Lapis. Afghanistan is known to produce the most pure blue Lapis in the world, so if it's solid blue and no one is saying otherwise, it is almost certainly from Afghanistan. Unfortunately, sourcing anything from Afghanistan at this time means lending support to a government with an increasingly horrendous human rights record; regularly engaging in public executions, extrajudicial killings, torture and the systematic refusal of rights to education, work, and freedoms of expression, especially for women and minority ethnic and religious groups. Despite all of this, it is difficult to stop supporting the people of a country because their government is not supporting them. Given this current political landscape, we have chosen not to source gemstones mined in Afghanistan.

The lapis we use instead, has been ethically sourced from the high altitudes of the Chilean Andes, and utilizes rough material often considered too impure for jewelry, by meticulously cutting away the speckled whites and golds, producing a product of the highest gem quality without compromising humanity.
