FAQs
How do I know my ring size?
If you don't know your ring size and you're not near our retail location, you can find out your size at your local jeweler. Jewelers are usually happy to help since it only takes a minute (we do it here for people all the time) but its smart to call ahead and make sure they're willing.
Will my rings tarnish?
Our jewelry is always made of solid metals, so there is no plating or surface treatment to rub off. However, real sterling silver tarnishes and changes over time. We consider this patina a feature rather than a flaw, but if you prefer your silver to be bright and shiny, we recommend storing it in a ziplock bag when not being worn, and polishing it regularly with a silver polishing cloth.
Solid gold, on the other hand, will never tarnish or change color. It will develop a soft "patina" over the years from the scuffs and scratches it gets from regular wear and tear. Although we love this mark of the passing time, some people prefer to have their jewelry periodically re-polished to get back the bright, smooth finish it had originally. Both metals should be cleaned periodically with warm water, mild dish soap and a toothbrush.
Are they hypoallergenic?
Our sterling silver is nickel-free, our gold is solid 14k, and none of our jewelry is plated. Often, "hypoallergenic" jewelry is relying on a coating that can wear away to create a barrier between a base metal and your skin. While no material is guaranteed to suit every individual, solid precious metals (such as the sterling silver and 14k gold we use in our jewelry) are well tolerated by most people with sensitive skin.
Why dont you have my birthstone?
At Ceci Greco our first consideration is whether we can source a gemstone in a transparent and responsible way. While the industry is improving in overall traceability and disclosure, there are still certain materials that we struggle to source in a way that meets our standards. If we don't currently carry your birthstone, it's likely because we cant source it in a way we feel good about. That being said, the industry is rapidly improving, and we may be able to source whatever you're looking for soon, so feel free to reach out through our contact form with a request and we'll see what we can do.
What if I get my ring and it doesnt fit?
Then we'll get you one that does. Just reach out through our contact form and we'll get the process started.
Doesn't all precious metal get recycled?
Yes, it does. In most contexts, when "recycling" is lauded as a moral good, we're talking aboutreducing waste, but precious metals are very rarely wasted. So what are we talking about? In the context of precious metals, the recycling conversation has more to do with what we're trying to keepoutof our supply chain than the reuse of waste materials. Gold and silver are highly valuable commodities, and they continue to be mined despite the recycling of already- circulating material. The difference in how we source is the focus on intentionality and traceability. We work with refiners at the leading edge of mining reform, who voluntarily impose rigorous standards intended to keep harmfully and Illegally mined metals out of our supply chain.
